Registration is open now!

Please read through ALL the information on this page before you register.

In the online registration system, it says that drop ins are welcome. However, this is ONLY allowed for older siblings on parent workdays. Do not register for drop in days otherwise.

As a cooperative school, parents and caregivers participate by working together and playing alongside the children and Teacher Suzie. One parent or caregiver from each family will assist in the classroom one day per week (per enrolled child). Parent and caregiver support is essential to the program’s success — in fact, if we don’t have enough caregivers on any given day, we cannot hold camp that day.

As a parent/caregiver in the classroom, you will assist the teacher with art and activities, as well as cleaning and general classroom management. We ask that you be observant and promote safety while also supporting children in exploring their learning interests.

  • Children registering for our summer camps must be 3-6 years old and have independent bathroom skills.

  • We are not able to allow children under the age of 3 to participate, including younger siblings on workdays. This is due to our liability insurance through North Seattle College — the ratio of adults to children required is 1:3 for age 2 and we aren’t able to accommodate that ratio for summer camps. Thank you for your understanding.

Children above the age of 6 will be allowed for the entire week with teacher approval. Please contact us if you are interested.

  • This summer, we are offering partial-tuition (50% of tuition) scholarships to registered families that need and/or desire financial assistance. You can request a scholarship for one session for each of your enrolled children. They will be awarded as a partial refund after you register. To request scholarship assistance, follow the link in the confirmation email after you register. We have a limited amount of funds and we cannot guarantee a scholarship.

  • Working adults are required to attend a Zoom orientation on Monday, May 20, 7-8pm. A Zoom link will be sent out in the confirmation email after you register. You can request a recording of the orientation if you were not able to attend.

  • Workdays will be assigned closer to the start of summer.

On your workday, please arrive on time. Everyone will be depending on you to be there when school starts for the day. When you arrive you will get a lanyard with your job description for the day from Teacher Suzie.

If you have a last minute change to your workday (if you're sick, for example), you'll need to email the parents in the that week's session to see if someone can switch or volunteer to take an extra day. If we don’t have enough parents in the classroom, we have to cancel camp for the day.

  • Any caregiver for your child can fulfill your workday duties. We have had parents, grandparents, nannies, au pairs, and more participate in our program. We do ask that the caregiver coming on your workday attends the June Orientation or watches the recording.

  • Older siblings are allowed to attend on the parent's workday only, for a $20 fee. You MUST register them for their drop in day in 6crickets, so Suzie is aware they will be attending (this is to make sure she has enough materials). Bypass the age exception of 3-6, and there will be an option to choose their drop in day and add that to your registration.

The older sibling drop-in rate is $20; however, it is listed as $30 in this system since 6crickets will apply the sibling discount to your child attending the whole week ($115 when it should be $125). The extra $10 corrects this issue. The sibling discount is only meant for 2+ siblings ages 3-6 attending the whole week. Sorry for the confusion!

Since we don’t know the workday schedules yet, you can choose the day you are hoping to work, but know that the schedule won’t be finalized until closer to summer. The summer camp coordinator will check in with you closer to the week of camp to finalize your work day.

  • This is the likely schedule of each camp day. It can change depending on the needs of the kids or the teacher.

    10:00 AM: Arrival/Check-in
10:15 AM: Free Choice Play (kids can freely rotate between themed arts and crafts, sensory activities, pretend play areas, and toys)
    11:00 AM: Clean-up
    11:10 AM: Story Circle
    11:30 AM: Lunch Break
    11:45 AM: Outdoor Play
    12:30 PM: Clean-up
    12:40 PM: Music & Movement
    1:00 PM: Dismissal

  • There will likely be some water play each day. Please dress your child in clothing and shoes that can get wet. Wearing a swimsuit under clothing works best, so we’re not having to manage clothing changes. Each child should bring along a towel that they can keep in their cubby throughout the week. When they are finished playing in the water, we will have them wrap up in a towel to stay warm or dry. Only when the whole group goes inside together will we “cover up” or change clothes. That is the most feasible way to manage so many kids and states of dress. So if your child is uncomfortable in wet clothing, they might want to participate in a different outdoor activity.

Things to bring (everything should be labeled!):
*Lunch (we are a nut-free school)
    *Water bottle
    *Sunscreen, already applied
    *Bathing suit, worn under clothes
    *Water Shoes
    *Towel
    *Extra clothes
    *Sunglasses/sun hat (optional)

  • Absences If your child will be absent any of the days, please let Teacher Suzie know.

Babes in arms The VH Summer Preschool Program does not allow for babes in arms on an adult’s workday. We need our working adults to be fully involved in their workstation for the safety of our campers.

  • Changes You can change your session dates in 6crickets for no fee as long as there are spots available.

Cancellations You can withdraw from any session up until 2 weeks prior to the start of each session. A $20 cancellation fee (per child, per session) will be deducted from the reimbursement. No tuition refunds will be given if withdrawal occurs within 2 weeks of the start date of a session. The $20 fee does not apply if you switch to another session.
